Lamb or Crocs?

This morning my almost 6 year old daughter was reciting the story of Cain and Able to my wife. it went a little like this:

Able brought God his best lamb and it pleased God. His brother Cain only brought God his Crocs, and God wasn’t pleased!

My wife then asked, what are “Crocs”? Caidyn answered, “you know, Crocs-shoes, God didn’t like just getting a pair of shoes…”

Well you can imagine the laughter that followed, and the puzzled look on the kids face.. Carla went on to explain that it wasn’t “Crocs”, but Crops-like we grow in the garden.

Then, the kicker “Oh yeah, they didn’t have ‘Crocs’ back then, just sandals”…..

(capt) Rex & (cmdr) Cody snooze the afternoon away

We recently adopted 2 pups.  The Great White Pyrenees brothers, Rex and Cody come from the Clear Meadow Farm in Campobello.  All of M7 are excited to welcome the boys home!

While I was out with the camera (found it) I thought I’d snap a few shots of what’s growing-on around here.

Hows that for a Big Boy

These boys will be with us till the end of Febuary

2012…Looking Back…

2012..

Well not too much longer and we can start over fresh.  I planned to post a few of the pics I’ve taken over the last little while, but I can’t find the camera I bought to use for the updates here.  Matter of fact, I’ve not seen it since my youngest celebrated her first Birthday on November the 25th.

Sadly, it was not only full of 1st birthday party fun, it was also jammed packed with photos of our first round of Broilers, the building of 2 chicken tractors in less than one week, said broilers pecking around the yard, the Pigs becoming Hogs, finished broilers, Farmall Tractor action, a new set of Broilers and even larger Hogs…

Hopefully it will turn up sometime soon in the post Christmas clean-up!?

Till Then.

Which Came First…….

I’m way overdue on a post, so please accept my apologies.

First things first….all the seeds we started died-bummer!  My Guineas appear to have left the farm for parts unknown to boot!

But, our Hogs are growing right along, and our Broilers are finally in the Chicken Tractor.

Speaking of Broilers…there they are-inside the box just a day old and all the way from Quakertown PA!

Unpacked and enjoying the booder

Not an elevated casket, it’s the brooder, before the vents and chicks were installed!

That my friends was at one time, Aunt Estelles back porch deck….

now it magically transforms into a Joel Salatin style Chicken Tractor.

Here it is, awaiting a door, but filled with 62 chicks!
